The Grace Period...because EVERYONE should to be shown grace in their darkest times

The Grace Period transitional housing is not your typical non-profit or housing assistance agency. Here at The Grace Period, we believe that everyone who wants to work should have access to the assistance they need to have a self-sufficient lifestyle. Our mission is to move adults and families who can't yet afford stable housing into self-sufficiency by utilizing transitional housing, high accountability, education and goal setting in a family-like, faith-based team of staff and volunteers.

The Grace Period started in November of 2019 with the vision of helping those who work 40 hours a week and are sleeping from couch to couch, motel to hotel, car to tent and in domestic violent situations because they have lost their self-sufficiency to survive in our society.

Our residence come from homes where they did not learn how to live on their own, how to budget for emergencies, and/or how to get the access of the education they need to succeed. Our residents have come from abusive households where they had no one to turn to because they felt they had no self-worth and no one in their corner. We have had residents who were stepchildren and when their biological parent passed away and the stepparent said they needed to go somewhere else because the person was not their responsibility anymore. We have also had a resident who ended up being homeless because their grandparent had dementia and had to go into a home for memory loss leaving our resident underage and not able to rent their own apartment.

Our residents are people just like you and I, who have had hard times with no one to turn to and no education to get themselves into a self-sufficient situation. People who need a little grace period in their life so that they can be the person who God has created them to be. Everyone deserves the chance to be the best they can be and that is what we are doing here at The Grace Period. Just giving them a little grace and time to get themselves together and set up with the right tools for everyday life.

Please help us this year in donating to our GivingTuesday campaign so that we can keep our housing programs up, our adult educational programs going for the public as well as our residents and so we can give back to our community in a way that not only helps our people but gives them the family they've never had before.

Our program focuses not only on financial empowerment but also physical, mental, emotional, occupational, relational health and of course our almighty God and the grace he gives us all. We also have a community life skills program teaching our residents about meal planning, budgeting, house cleaning, maintenance up-keep, scheduling, organization and as well as public transportation knowledge. We help our residents with county resources and walk alongside them as they reach goal of life.

Thank you so much for your generosity and please keep in touch through facebook, instagram, linkedin and our monthly newsletter.
